It’s easy to become complacent with the idea of loving your body, but truly loving yourself means taking care of it. In today’s society, women are encouraged to love themselves and their bodies, but aren’t told how. It’s important to be able to recognize the areas in your life that need change and sometimes that means being honest with your body. I’m lucky enough to recognize that God has blessed me with a wonderful body, but I’m not honoring what He gave me if I don’t treat it right.
I’ve gone through a journey of understanding what God has blessed me with and honoring these gifts properly. But it needs to be understood that everyone has body image issues. Models are often called too thin and anorexic. Looking down on women in the media may be just as bad as looking down on heavier women. You can’t compare women’s bodies to your own, but should be respectful to the body God has given you. It’s not that I don’t believe all women are beautiful, but that there is more beauty than most women see in themselves.
I am so blessed to have such a supporting and loving group of friends and family that have lifted me up to God throughout my continuing journey. If anyone has questions or wants to talk feel free to message me! My journey to being healthy has been a huge part of my life and hopefully I can help it become part of yours too!
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
1 Corinthians 6: 19-20
